Flyover Connector to be Built Between 10 and 605 Freeways

In an effort to improve traffic flow in the San Gabriel Valley, transportation officials in Baldwin Park announced on Wednesday the construction of a direct flyover connector between the I-605 South and I-10 East freeways.

Currently, drivers connecting from Freeway I-605 southbound to the I-10 East, have only a small space to join a connector shared with those entering from Freeway I-10 West to I-605 South. 

Construction of the proposed $66 million project will take about two years to complete, and it would benefit around 200,000 drivers daily, said Shirley Choate, deputy director of Project Management for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), District 7.

"They will experience some inconvenience during construction, but it will be worth it," Choate said Wednesday during the official opening ceremony at Barnes Park .

The flyover connector is part of the nearly $2.7 billion being spent in 108 projects in Caltrans District 7, which includes the counties of Los Angeles and Ventura.

Authorities will hold a community information meeting this Wednesday, December 12th at Barnes Park Community Center, located at 3251 Patritti Avenue in Baldwin Park .
