Baldwin Park Resident Honored For Community Service

Margaret Salonisen, was honored by the State Assembly and by the Baldwin Park City Council.

Baldwin Park resident and former Baldwin Park School Board member, Margaret Burnett Salonisen, was honored last week by the State Assembly and by the Baldwin Park City Council for her community service.

On Wednesday, the City Council recognized Margaret as "Senior of the Year" besides the also Baldwin Park resident, Manuel Santillan.

Assemblymember Roger Hernández, who represents Baldwin Park in the State Assembly, honored also the valuable contributions of remarkable women in the 48th District last Friday, including Salonisen.

The honorees were selected from a pool of candidates nominated by their peers and community members that dedicate countless hours of service to their local communities.
 
“It is a great pleasure to honor these individuals who are committed to our local communities and residents.  Their dedication, passion and volunteerism speaks volumes and exemplify the true meaning of community involvement," said Hernandez.  "I thank them for all they do on a daily basis to make our communities a better place to live.” 

Margaret has been a member of the Baldwin Park Women’s Club for over 57 years, and is a former Baldwin Park School Boardmember from 1975-1991.

She served as president of the Baldwin Park Chamber of Commerce from 2008-2009.  Margaret is a dedicated volunteer to Meals on Wheels, March of Dimes, and the Baldwin Park Women’s Club.
