Bear Tranquilized in Baldwin Park Neighborhood

The bear had wandered into the neighborhood near Ramona Boulevard and Puente Avenue.

Authorities today tranquilized a bear that had wandered into a neighborhood in Baldwin Park.

The animal was seen near Ramona Boulevard and Puente Avenue, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department. Police officers were sent to the scene, along with personnel from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The bear, which weighed an estimated 275 pounds, was tranquilized about 6:30 a.m., placed into the bed of a pickup truck and driven to the Angeles National Forest.
