CHP to Offer Smart Start Driving Class on Thursday

The Baldwin Park CHP office is hosting a free driving awareness course for teens and their parents/guardians Monday.

The office will be hosting a “Smart Start” driving awareness class on Thursday May 24 and they are inviting teenagers and their parent/guardian to attend a free Start Smart class.

The class is designed to provide teens and their parents/guardians with an interactive, safe-driving awareness course that shows how poor choices behind the wheel of a car can affect the lives of numerous people, according to a news release.

Attendees will learn about the CHP’s mission of safety, service and security, the responsibilities of newly licensed drivers, the role of parents/guardians, and collision-avoidance techniques.

The class is at 6:15 p.m. at the CHP office, 14039 Francisquito Ave. Seating is limited so attendees must reserve a slot. Because of the graphic nature of some of the photos and videos used in the class, each teen much be accompanied by a parent or guardian and sign a waiver before each class.

To reserve a seat for a teenager and his or her parent/guardian, email Officer Kerri Rivas at krivas@chp.ca.gov or call 626-338-1164.
