County Prepares to Light Up Its Tree

The Los Angeles County Christmas tree will be dedicated at 5 tonight at the Los Angeles County Music Center.

With Thanksgiving over, it’s time to focus on Christmas, and the Los Angeles County Christmas tree will be dedicated at 5 tonight.

You can join Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich at the Los Angeles County Music Center as he switches on the lights of the 50-foot tree.
The supervisor will be joined by talented young performers from the Los Angeles County High School of the Arts, to help flip the switch to light the 50-foot tree.

“As we light the County Christmas tree, we invite all of our County’s citizens to join us and reflect on the glory of the season and share in the celebration,” said Antonovich through a statement issued in a news release.

The tradition of lighting a Christmas tree in the United States began over a hundred years ago, according to county officials.  In 1923, President Calvin Coolidge started the National Christmas Tree lighting Ceremony, every year on the White House lawn, officials wrote.
