Baldwin Park Farmers Market Celebrates Cinco de Mayo (VIDEO)

Kaiser Permanente celebrates farmers market diversity by recognizing Cinco de Mayo with mariachis and a special event.

Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center hosted a diversity celebration at its Farmer’s Market this Friday, by recognizing Cinco de Mayo.

In addition to the nearly 20 vendors offering fresh fruits and vegetables, freshly-harvested honey, organic apples and avocados, fresh fruit juices, hummus, and plants, there was cultural entertainment with mariachis, cooking demonstration, and health education information targeting issues that are more prevalent in the Latin culture.

“At Kaiser Permanente, we pride ourselves on the diverse backgrounds of our workforce. As such, we are excited to host this celebration as it gives us a chance to generate awareness about the Latin culture,” says Maggie Pierce, Executive Director, Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center. “Also, as a prevention-oriented health care organization, we encourage healthy eating and active living. Throughout the celebration we will be focusing on these as well.”

The Farmer’s Market is held Fridays on a biweekly basis at the cafeteria patio of the medical center campus and is open to the community.
