Section of I-10 Through Baldwin Park to be Closed

Construction on the freeway is scheduled to begin tonight.

Motorists in the Baldwin Park area could run into some traffic jams beginning tonight and continuing overnights for the next week, with a stretch of the San Bernardino (10) Freeway blocked for construction work.

The 10 Freeway will be closed in both directions between the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway and Baldwin Park Boulevard between midnight tonight and 6 a.m. Saturday, according to Caltrans.

The closure will be repeated between 1 and 6 a.m. Sunday, then nightly from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.

The closures are being planned to accommodate the utility-relocation work as part of the reconfiguration of the 10-605 Freeway interchange. Caltrans is building a "fly-over" ramp connecting the southbound 605 to the eastbound 10 to improve the flow of merging traffic. The $66 million project is expected to be completed in fall 2015.
