Strong winds hitting Baldwin Park on Friday afternoon could be the reason why  at least 3,600 people were without electricity, according to a blackout map from Southern California Edison (SCE).

As of 6:30 p.m. on Friday, service had not been restored and the cause for the outage was not yet determined.

"We are currently investigating the cause for these blackouts", said an announcement in SCE's website.

However, strong winds that have been hitting the region, could be partly to blame.

Several fallen tree branches could be seen in many of the city's main traffic arteries, some hanging from power cables.

Service is expected to return by 9:30 p.m.
