Google Gives San Gabriel Valley Celebrities Their Bacon Number

Have you ever tried to stump the game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon"? Well, Google can now figure out the answer in an instant.

All right, admit it. You’ve wasted several hours looking up your favorite actor’s Google Bacon Number.

It looks like Google has found yet another way to keep us in front of our computers, with the introduction of an online tool known as the Bacon Number. The feature is based on the game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, which challenges people to find the shortest connection between an actor - any actor - and Kevin Bacon.

To use the tool, all you do is type in an actor’s name and add the words Bacon number and Google will tell you the degree of separation between the two. A Google search on the new tool turned up an Entertainment Weekly story in which they challenge people to find the largest degree of separation.

It’s not an easy thing to do.

A talented actor, Bacon has had a long career and worked in a variety of films from the lighthearted “Footloose” to the serious courtroom thriller “A Few Good Men.”

So how do the famous people from our very own towns do? We’re providing you with a few names of famous folks who lived or live in our towns.

Try other names and let us know how you do. Good luck everyone.

Oops, I sure did. I checked. He's only one degree of separation. According to google John was in A River Wild with Kevin Bacon. They should do a Rielly number too ;-)

I had no idea that Alison Brie lives in my Patch. I'm a HUGE Mad Men fan, so I'm glad I've had this front-loaded knowledge. Otherwise, I might've gasped or guffawed if she were in front of me at Kaldi ordering a coffee. Thanks, Gina!
