Father Arrested in 1-Year-Old Baldwin Park Child's Death

The boy has been identified as Joshua Anderson Vazquez, said Lt. Joe Bale of the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

The father of a year-old Baldwin Park boy whose death is under investigation by sheriff's homicide detectives has been arrested on suspicion of homicide, a detective says.

David Vazquez was booked at the Baldwin Park Police Department for Murder and is being held in lieu of 1,000,000 bail. 

The boy's name was Joshua Anderson Vazquez, said Lt. Joe Bale of the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

He died at a hospital around 11 a.m. Wednesday and Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives went to the family's home in the 3700 block of Downing Avenue around 1:30 p.m. to assist Baldwin Park police in a suspicious-death investigation, said Deputy Mark Pope of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

An autopsy was pending to determine the cause of death. The body was still at the hospital this morning, Bale said.

Sheriff's Detective Ed Brown, who told reporters the home appeared to be "tidy and clean,'' told NBC4 late Wednesday that the boy's father, David Vazquez, had been booked on suspicion of murder. The boy suffered serious head and neck injuries, Channel 4 reported.
