CERT Training

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program was developed to provide basic training in safety and life saving skills for the general public. The training course spans 7 classes.

Following a major disaster, police, fire and medical professionals may not be able to fully meet the demand. People will
have to rely on each other to meet the immediate life saving and life sustaining needs, particularly in isolated
neighborhoods that may be cut off from the main roads for a period of time.
The County of Los Angeles Fire Department’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program was
developed to provide basic training in safety and life saving skills for the general public.
The course curriculum covers the following modules:

1. Disaster
Preparedness
2. Fire
Suppression/Hazardous
Materials
3. Disaster
Medical PART 1
4. Disaster Medical
PART 2
5. Light Search &
Rescue & Team
Organization
6. Terrorism
Awareness & Disaster
Psychology
7. Review, Drill, and
Graduation

Council Chambers)
The training course will be presented as a series of *seven (7) classes. Scheduled class dates are:
Thursday nights, May 17 to June 28, 2012
6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M.
