Free Backpack Giveaway This Saturday In Baldwin Park

The Church Of The Redeemer will host a Back To School Fair and will give away 500 backpacks for students in the community.

If your child still needs school supplies and a good backpack, come to the this Saturday, August 18th, to get one of the 500 free backpacks for those most in need within the community.

This is the sixth time that the church, located at 3739 Monterrey Ave., will host a "Back To School" Fair, starting at 12 p.m. until 3 p.m.

"It is extremely important to have this event in this community where so many underprivileged people cannot afford school supplies for their children," said Cecelia Bernal, Director of Community Events.

"The backpacks will have composition notebooks, notebooks, crayons, scissors, pencils, erasers, and many other necessary supplies for school," she added.

According to Bernal, there will be 250 backpacks for students in kindergarten through third grade, and 250 for students from fourth grade through high school.

The school supplies and backpacks were donated mainly by the church, although local businesses have also contributed.

During the Fair, there will be information available regarding benefits and recreational programs for students.
