Everything is almost ready. The carne asada tacos, burritos stuffed with chilaquiles, and machaca wil be served to city guests in less than a week when Pepe’s, a Mexican food restaurant, opens its doors in Baldwin Park.
“We’re excited. We have 9 stores throughout Southern California and we knew we had to come to Baldwin Park,” expressed Jason Russi, representative of the chain of restaurants that opened back in 1962. “What people will find here is good food and authentic Mexican cuisine,” he added.
The establishment, which will open before April 28th will be located in the old Long John Silver, at 14400 Merced Street, inside the shopping mall where the is located.
The arrival of the restaurant will also bring a total of 15 jobs to the city, Rossi mentioned.
According to the company’s website, the restaurant was founded in 1962 by brothers Joe and Tony in the city of Alhambra. It was originally called “El Adobe” and “El Jardin.”
The name “Pepe” was given in honor of one of their nephews who fought in the Vietnam War in 1962.
