Spanish-Language Ad Asks Romney To Show His Papers

Time to show your papers, pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA Action and labor group Service Employees International Union (SEIU) will tell Mitt Romney in Spanish-language ads released on Friday to target his refusal to release more tax returns.

"He wants us to show him our papers, but he doesn't show us his," a narrator says in the ad, translated to English. "How can we trust Mitt Romney?"

Romney critics reappropriated the "show us your papers" line this week as the candidate continued to state he will release no more tax returns than he already has. The Priorities USA Action/SEIU ad points to Romney's refusal to release his returns and his views on immigration enforcement, alluding to Arizona's SB 1070. A majority of Latinos disagree with that law, and Romney refused to say whether he supports it after the Supreme Court blocked some provisions last month.

The ad will air in Nevada and Florida -- both swing states with large Latino populations -- and joins a spate of other Spanish-language ads from the groups on Medicare, immigration and foreclosures. Priorities USA Action and the SEIU released another set of ads last week as part of its $4 million ad buy.

Obama is still looking safe with Latino voters, who analysts say he needs to motivate more to come to the polls than to oppose Romney. A poll released Wednesday by Latino Decisions found Obama with 70 percent support from Latino voters to Romney's 22 percent -- generally consistent, if a little higher, with other polling that shows the president with a significant lead.

UPDATE: In wake of Friday's mass shooting in Aurora, Colo. Priorities USA Action told The Huffington Post this ad will no longer run in Colorado. The super PAC is also suspending all of its other advertising in the state for the time being.
