Supervisors Approve Wage Increase for In-Home Support Service Workers (VIDEO)

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved recently a wage increase for in-home supportive service workers, bringing their hourly rate to $9.65 an hour.

Supervisors Mark Ridley-Thomas and Zev Yaroslavsky co-authored the motion amidst severe budget challenges.

“This wage increase will help to get Los Angeles County healthy,” said Laphonza Butler, president of SEIU United Long Term Care Workers’ Union representing 180,000 in-home care providers and nursing home workers throughout California.
