OUT-OF-STATE COLLEGE FAIR PROMOTES HIGHER EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR SAN GABRIEL VALLEY YOUTH

BALDWIN PARK, Calif. – Nonprofit MAPS 4 College and
the City of Baldwin Park will host its 3rd Annual Out of State
College Fair to help students and families learn about higher education
opportunities outside of California on Tuesday, December 10, from 5:30 p.m. to
9:00 p.m. at the Julia McNeill Senior Center located at 4100 Baldwin Park Blvd. Registration is free for all attendees and
includes workshops and presentations by college recruiters.

Special guest speakers
include college admission directors
and representatives from over 50 out
of state colleges.  Students and
their parents will have the opportunity to learn the college going process from
college admission representatives, how college decisions are made, overview of
the financial aid process, and why going out-of-state may be the best choice
for California students. There will be an opportunity for individuals to get
more personal with college admission counselors during a special question and
answer workshop, learn the differences between college admission tests, and
learn about the opportunities available to AB540 students. In addition, the
first 50 high school seniors who pre-register will receive direct one-on-one
college essay guidance with college admission officers, so MAPS encourages
students to bring their college essays.
Overall, students and parents will have the opportunity to speak
directly to college representatives whose responsibility is to decide who gets
admitted into the university.

While families of high school seniors and juniors may be
particularly interested, this college fair is open to everyone, especially
middle school students, all high school students, adults, community college
transfer students and even non-traditional students.  For seniors who have not applied for college yet, then this
is your opportunity to learn about rolling admission 4-year colleges and
universities.  “Learn the skills
necessary to prepare for your future.
So, if you have never thought about college, this is your opportunity,”
said Sarai Koo, CEO and Founder of MAPS 4 College. "We are encouraging all
students to learn about colleges that are outside of California. There are so
many out-of-state colleges and scholarships available! MAPS 4 College seeks to
provide ample opportunities for students and parents to learn about
universities as well as get prepared for college.”
