Free Kidney Disease Screening Will Be Offered

Those interested must go through a medical pre-screening before Friday, August 31.

This Saturday, October 20th, a day of free health examinations will be available for people without health insurance or underinsured, especially those vulnerable to developing chronic kidney diseases.

People interested in taking advantage of this opportunity need to request an appointment for a routine check-up and determination of eligibility before Friday, August 31.

The event is taking place thanks to the contribution of agencies such as the , Jason David's Corner's Foundation, Buddhist Tzu Chi Free Clinic, and Our Saviour Center/Cleaver Family Wellness Clinic

“Chronic kidney disease is a very common but silent disease,” said Mark Rutkowski, a nephrologist at Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park..

"Early findings can help individuals slow the disease down, screenings are very important for those with diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of kidney disease as they are at a higher risk."

To participate in this event, interested individuals 18 years and older must complete a pre-screening process, which includes a health assessment questionnaire and measurement of height, weight, and blood pressure.

Appointments for pre-screenings must be scheduled before this Friday at the Buddhist Tzu Chi clinic of South El Monte, or at the Our Saviour Center/Cleaver of El Monte.
