Funeral Services for 5-year-old Boy Fatally Struck Set for Friday

Ernesto Rodriguez, was hit by a vehicle last week as he was crossing the road with his father and 3-year-old sister in Irwindale.

The 5-year-old boy who was fatally struck by a car while walking with his father and sister in Irwindale is laid to rest in Glendora, family members told Patch.

Ernesto Rodriguez, was hit by a vehicle last Friday close to the Santa Fe Dam as he was crossing the road with his father and 3-year-old sister, who was in a stroller.

Services for Ernie Rodriguez are tentatively scheduled for Friday, April 12, as follows:

Mass and viewing starts at 9:00 a.m. in The Sky Rose Chapel at Rose Hills Memorial Park, located at 3888 Workman Mill Road in Whittier.

The burial service will follow at Oakdale Memorial Park, located at 1401 S. Grand Avenue in Glendora.

The family requests no black be worn. Family invites friends to wear Dodger blue and white or jerseys. "They were his favorite team," said Gabie Ibarra.

"Ernie was a joyful young boy, full of life and charm. Anyone who knew him would instantly fall in love with his big brown eyes and radiant smile."
