A pickup truck carrying Palm trees overturned on the northbound 605 Freeway Saturday, scattering debris and badly injuring the driver, officials said.
The crash near the Interstate 10 interchange was reported about 1 p.m., according to Los Angeles County fire Supervising Dispatcher Bernard Peters.
The patient was airlifted to a trauma center by a helicopter crew that landed the airship on the freeway, Peters said.
The crash prompted closure of the 605 iin both directions for a time, officials said.
According to the California Highway Patrol logs the 605 Freeway was shut down in both directions because of a crash.
