Baldwin Park Resident Accused Of Methamphetamine Distribution

The FBI arrested 17 people in connection to an illegal scheme between gangs in the San Gabriel Valley and the Mexican drug gang "La Familia Michoacana".

A resident of Baldwin Park is among the 27 people accused of taking part in an alleged drug trafficking scheme, one with connections to gangs in the San Gabriel Valley and in a Mexican drug cartel.

Jose María Chávez, a.k.a. "Chemita" of Baldwin Park, is included in a federal indictment revealed this Thursday, which accuses 27 people of possession, manufacturing and selling of methamphetamines. The drugs were imported by Familia Michoacana, one of the most violent Mexican drug cartels.

At least seven agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), participated in a sweep that resulted in 17 arrests, according to the FBI.
