Car Chase Suspects to be Arraigned Friday

Raymond Vasquez, 29 of Los Angeles and Jimmy Osuna, 21, were among 3 people in Wednesday car chase incident.

Two paroless who were among the 3 people who had been in a stolen car from which shots were fired at pursuing sheriff's deputies on Wednesday will be arraigned Friday in West Covina Superior Court.

Raymond Vasquez, a 29-year-old resident of Los Angeles and Jimmy Osuna, 21-year-old and resident of Baldwin Park, will face multiple charges including suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and  evading a police officer.

According to Sgt. Peter Gomez of the sheriff's Headquarters the car was spotted in Pomona around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday by a member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Narcotics Strike Team, who determined it was reported stolen. 

The vehicle was followed until a marked patrol car from the sheriff's Industry Station arrived, at which time the chase began, he said.

During the pursuit, rounds were fired at deputies through the front windshield of the car, according to Gomez, who said deputies did not return fire. No one was injured.

Near the end of the chase, a woman -who was not identified- jumped from the moving car and was taken into custody. The vehicle then crashed, and two men fled into a residential neighborhood in the 13600 block of Monterey Avenue.

Both were arrested after an extensive search.

Vasquez will face charges from suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, being an ex-felon in possession of ammunition and carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, as well as unlawful discharge of a firearm in an urbana area.

Jimmy Osuna, who was the driver will be face two charges: Suspicion of auto theft and evading police.
