Coroner ID 5-year-old Boy Fatally Struck in Irwindale
Ernesto Rodriguez, was hit by a vehicle about 1:30 p.m. Friday as he was crossing the road with his father and 3-year-old sister in Irwindale.
A 5-year-old boy fatally struck by a car while walking with his father and sister in Irwindale was identified today by Los Angeles County coroner's officials.
The boy, Ernesto Rodriguez, was hit by a vehicle about 1:30 p.m. Friday in the 1400 block of East Arrow Highway as he was crossing the road with his father and 3-year-old sister, who was in a stroller.
The three were heading north to the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, when the five-year-old bolted away and was hit by a westbound car, Irwindale police Sgt. Armando Lopez said.

An officer performed CPR on the child until paramedics arrived and took him to a trauma center, where he was pronounced dead.
The motorist stopped at the scene and was not charged, Lopez said.

The crash remained under investigation.
