DUI Crackdown Planned For Halloween

Local law enforcement will patrol communities throughout Los Angeles County looking for drunk drivers.

The Avoid the 100 DUI Task Force will initiate an anti-DUI enforcement effort across Los Angeles County for the Halloween holiday

Additional law enforcement officers will be patrolling communities during Halloween on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

The effort is to help prevent the number of alcohol-related accidents on the road during the Halloween holiday, when costumed revelers are expected to attend Halloween parties after nightfall. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 41 percent of all highway fatalities throughout the nation during the Halloween period in 2010 involved a motorist with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or higher.

“Local revelers should be aware that their Halloween disguises won't make them invisible to the Police, Sheriff or CHP officers who will crack down on drunk and drug-impaired drivers throughout the region with an aggressive Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement effort,” said Glendora Police Chief Rob Castro in a press statement.

For a safe Halloween, the Avoid the 100 offers these safety tips:
