Man Fatally Shot in La Puente Parking Lot

An investigation was under way today into the fatal shooting of a man in a liquor store parking lot in La Puente.

Deputies were called to 443 S. Azusa Ave. around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Lt. Joe Chavez of the Los Angeles County sheriff's Industry Station.

The victim was pronounced dead at a hospital, Chavez said.

A suspect was at large and a description was not immediately available.

A white Chevrolet pickup truck with its door open and at least two bullet casings on the ground next to it was in the lot of K&B Liquor, according to a news photographer at the scene.

Clothing and a pair of dress shoes were on the ground near the truck's tailgate, the photographer said.
