An 82-year-old man whose remains were found by firefighters battling a blaze at his home was identified Sunday and sheriff's homicide investigators were on the case, it was reported.
Ralph Simonian was pronounced dead at the scene of the blaze, reported about 11 a.m. Thursday in the 900 block of Holiday Drive, according to an article in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
Los Angeles County sheriff's officials described Simonian's death as suspicious but would not elaborate on what brought them to the conclusion, the newspaper's website reported.
Firefighters arrived at the home to find it engulfed and locked, officials said.
They forced their way in and found the victim unconscious in a back room, SGVTribune.com reported.
He was pronounced dead in his backyard, the news outlet reported.
The cause of the fire was being investigated.
