Man Wounded After Officer Involved Shooting with El Monte Police

An officer-involved shooting today in San Gabriel left one of two truck theft suspects wounded and both in custody.
The shooting involving El Monte police was reported about 4:40 a.m. at San Marino Avenue and Leslie Drive, said Deputy Don Walker of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
The wounded man was taken to a hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition. No officers were hurt.

The men, whose names were not immediately releaed, allegedly stole a delivery truck this morning in El Monte and led officers on a chase, during which one suspect surrendered.
"The other individual continues to drive the delivery truck,'' sheriff's Lt. John Corina told ABC7 near the shooting scene. "They pursue him for about five or 10 minutes, before he drives down this street here. That's when the individual backs the truck up toward the officers, and an officer-involved shooting occurred.''

The truck driver had left the key in the ignition, according to Channel 7, which reported that five El Monte officers were involved in the shooting.
