New Details Revealed About Homicide in Baldwin Park

Guillermo Reyes suffered a shot to the head and was taken to the hospital by a passenger identified as Jamie Martinez.

Guillermo Reyes, the 20-year-old man who was was shot in the head during a car-to-car shootout between rival gang members, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported.

The homicide, initially reported by Patch after confirming the identity with the Los Angeles County Coroner, had not been detailed in full by authorities.

Local Police only confirmed the death and the Sheriff's Detective Bureau did not provide any information to Patch.

According to information given to the Tribune, Reyes was shoot from another vehicle while on Center Street, a short distance from Los Angeles St. on June 25.

The passenger, who has been identified as 21-year-old Jamie Martinez of Baldwin Park, was arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded handgun and auto theft.

Autorities said that after the shooting Martinez took control of the vehicle and drove his wounded companion to the hospital.

Both Martinez and Reyes are described as gang members. Martinez was arrested and he pleaded not guilty on June 28, said the Tribune.

Residents from the middle-class neighborhood where the incident took place , and some neighbors told Patch that Reyes was not a resident of the area.
