October Trial Scheduled for Driver Charged With Fatal Road Worker Accident

Tatsuhiko Sakamoto was charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated for the death of Connor Penhall, a Caltrans contractor working on the 10 Freeway in Baldwin Park.

An October 21 trial was scheduled at a court hearing this week for a driver charged with striking and killing motorcycle racing champion-turned-actor Bruce Penhall's 21-year-old son.

Tatsuhiko Sakamoto faces vehicular manslaughter charges after he allegedly struck and killed Connor Penhall, 21-year-old resident of Corona at a Caltrans construction site.

On April 4 Connor Penhall was working for a Caltrans subcontractor on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Baldwin Park when he was allegedlystruck by Sakamoto's Toyota Rav4, which plowed through traffic cones.

According to police, Penhall was operating a concrete saw on the westbound side of the freeway at Francisquito Avenue when he was killed around 11:45 p.m.
