Parolee Barricades Himself, Bicyclist Shot in Separate Incidents

One person was shot while riding a bicycle and La Blanquita Market was evacuated after a parolee barricaded himself in two weekend developments.

A bicyclist was injured in a drive-by shooting on Edra Street Friday and a parolee barricaded himself in forcing an evacuation Saturday night, reported.

The shooting occurred around 5:20 p.m. near the corner of Edra Avenue and Olive Street. A 24-year-old man was wounded in the arm and the leg, said Lt. David Reynoso. 

The man was riding his bicycle on Edra Street when someone inside a dark vehicle fired five shots at him, police said.

At least two shots hit the victim, but he was able to run away after the attack.

Reynoso said the bicyclist is in stable condition and cooperating with investigators.

Baldwin Park police are looking for two men with shaved heads who drove off from the scene.

In a separate incident Saturday night, a parolee barricaded himself in a store, prompting the evacuation of in the 13800 block of Los Angeles Street. 

Police said they saw a man acting suspiciously and recognized him as a parolee. When police approached him, the man ran and barricaded himself inside La Blanquita. The market and surrounding businesses were evacuated.

After a standoff lasting 30 minutes, the suspect turned himself in. 

Police said he did not hold anyone hostage, but they found firearms inside the store.
