One man was killed and another wounded today in a car-to-car shooting in Baldwin Park, authorities said.

The shooting in the 3800 block of Maine Avenue was reported at 1:06 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

"It appears that the cars were driving down the street. One was shooting at the other as they were driving," said Lt. John Cortina of the L.A. County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau to KTLA5.

"Some of the rounds missed the car they were shooting at and stuck other vehicles on the street and even struck some homes."

Both victims were taken to a hospital, where one was pronounced dead and the other was listed in stable condition, officials said.

Authorities withheld the name of the dead man, who was 22 and from Baldwin Park, pending family notification, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

Sheriff's homicide detectives were sent to assist Baldwin Park police in the shooting investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting was urged to call sheriff's homicide detectives at (323) 890-5500. Anonymous tips can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.

WoW (2) deaths in one day I've lived here in Bp for 50yrs never seen this before. Bp is known for a quiet city not like the 70's and 80's when it use to be real bad now u don't know anymore its starting to get crazier maybe we need more law enforcement as it is we have very little we need law enforcement

First, my thoughts and prayers go out to the families. Mark, do you think more law enforcement would have helped this situation? In my experience (growing up in Camden, NJ) that most police involvement is reactionary. So the event would have still happened. ________________________________________ Find a Military Friendly College, www.bestmilitaryfriendlycolleges.com

My son was shot on 6/18 on Vineland Baldwin Park, he feels like there is no where to go since he does not know who did it. So best bet is to move out of state. Our prayers go out to the family that lost a love one.

Running and hiding is not the solution. Personally, I am tired of the low life's hanging out in front of Food 4 Less, sick of being afraid in my own city. I saw a guy the other day who had a tattoo on his face like Mike Tyson and multiple tats on his head....what is that? If I were a police officer, I'd stop every gang banging looking thug and see what he's up to. Maybe BP needs a few parole officers (for our city) to check in on past offenders...We need to send a message to thugs, "go elsewhere, we don't want you here". 90% don't even OWN in this city, yet they claim This is "Thier Town".
