Police Arrest 9 People, Impound 38 Cars During Checkpoint

Baldwin Park police released the results of a sobriety and driver's license checkpoint held last Friday.

A total of 9 people were arrested last Friday when the At least five of the motorists were found driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to officer Ted Espanto, Traffic Bureau-Grant Coordinator for the Baldwin Park police, a total of 38 cars were impounded during the operation held as part of the Avoid 100 DUI campaign.

Five out of the 9 people arrested were for suspicion of driving under the influence. Another 4 were arrested for various misdemeanors. At the end of the operation 51 citations were given to infractors.

Police said checkpoints are a proven and effective tool for achieving the city's goal in removing impaired drivers from streets.
