Roadside Fire Forces 605 Freeway Closure
The fire started in a homeless encampment alongside the freeway and burned about 30-40 square yards, fire officials said.
A roadside brush fire closed both the northbound lanes of the San Gabriel Valley (605) Freeway and a transition road from the Artesia (91) Freeway early today, authorities said.

The fire was fought and brought under control by 20 firefighters, Sanford said.

The three right northbound lanes of the 605, and the transition from the 91 were closed for 90 minutes, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos said the fire was first reported around 2:20 a.m.
