Suspect in Christmas Robbery of Boy's Scooter Collared

Francisco Rodriguez, 18, was taken into custody Friday following the investigation of the Christmas Day robbery of a scooter from an 11-year-old boy in Covina.

An 18-year-old man who allegedly ripped a scooter away from an 11-year-old boy in Covina Christmas Day was behind bars, pending a court appearance Wednesday.

Francisco Rodriguez was booked into the county jail and was being held in lieu of $50,000, according to sheriff's records.

The suspect was arrested Friday, officials said.

The robbery took place about 2 p.m. in the 1300 block of Citrus Avenue, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Dave Vega.

The scooter was recovered and returned to the boy, Vega reported.
