A 14-year-old boy who led Baldwin Park Police in a car chase -after his father reported that the minor had stolen his minivan- is currently being held in a juvenile detention center.
According to Lt. David Reynoso, spokesperson for the BPPD, authorities received a call from the teen's father on Thursday, regarding the theft of his Honda Odyssey by the youth.
An officer found the teen driving on Puente Ave. and Francisquito Ave., around 8:00 p.m.
When the officer attempted to detain the minor, he refused to stop and started a low-speed police chase on Puente Ave.
The young man finally stopped near Workman Mill Road in Whittier, where he did a U-turn, stopped, reversed the vehicle and hit a police car.
Another police car blocked the front of the van and the teen finally surrendered to authorities.
The teen was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and auto theft. He was taken to Los Padrinos Youth Detention Center.
