14 Year-Old Kid Arrested in Police Pursuit After Stealing His Dad's Minivan

The father of the minor called the police to report the theft of his minivan. The youth led police on a car chase.

A 14-year-old boy who led Baldwin Park Police in a car chase -after his father reported that the minor had stolen his minivan- is currently being held in a juvenile detention center.

According to Lt. David Reynoso, spokesperson for the BPPD, authorities received a call from the teen's father on Thursday, regarding the theft of his Honda Odyssey by the youth.

An officer found the teen driving on Puente Ave. and Francisquito Ave., around 8:00 p.m. 

When the officer attempted to detain the minor, he refused to stop and started a low-speed police chase on Puente Ave.

The young man finally stopped near Workman Mill Road in Whittier, where he did a U-turn, stopped, reversed the vehicle and hit a police car.

Another police car blocked the front of the van and the teen finally surrendered to authorities.

The teen was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and auto theft. He was taken to Los Padrinos Youth Detention Center.
