Tour Bus Goes Into Ditch, Leaving 11 With Minor Injuries

The driver and 38 passengers were trapped inside the bus for about an hour, and the Baldwin Park offramp from the 210 Freeway was shut down so the vehicle could be removed from the ditch.

A tour bus with 38 passengers went into a small drainage ditch while exiting the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Baldwin Park Monday morning, trapping the occupants and injuring some of the passengers, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The accident occurred about 4:30 a.m. on the westbound offramp from the San Bernardino Freeway at Baldwin Park Boulevard, said CHP Officer Christian Craycraft.

The driver and 38 passengers were trapped inside the bus for about an hour, Craycraft said. About 11 passengers suffered minor injuries.

The offramp was shut down so that the bus could be removed from the ditch, the CHP said. About 150 feet of chain link fence was pushed down by the bus, raising concern that pedestrians could gain access to the freeway.
