A woman found dead Sunday morning in her car in Hawaiian Gardens was reported missing by her husband Saturday evening, a sheriff's homicide lieutenant said.

The 57-year-old nurse's husband reported her missing to West Covina police Saturday evening, said Lt. John Corina.

The husband told police she got off work Friday morning and did not return home, and the family began searching for her at various locations, Corina said.

The family's search finally led them to her parked car in the lot in the 11800 block of Carson Street in Hawaiian Gardens, Corina said.  The sheriff's department was contacted, and about 9:20 a.m., Sunday, deputies checked the car and found the victim's body inside. She was pronounced dead at the scene, Corina said.   "Due to the condition of the victim's body, it appeared the victim was killed and placed in the rear of the vehicle," Corina said.

The woman's name was being withheld.

Sheriff's homicide detectives asked anyone with any information regarding the death to call them at (323) 890-5500.

A West Covina woman whose family reported her missing Friday was found dead in her vehicle Sunday morning by relatives who went looking for her, authorities said.

Sheriff's officials reported the discovery about 9:30 a.m. in the 11800 block of Carson Street, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's officials.

But investigators Sunday evening were trying to piece together the events leading to the discovery of the remains.

According to Juan Garza, publicist for the city of Hawaiian Gardens, the woman was a resident of West Covina and had been reported missing before her Toyota SUV was found with her remains inside.

"She had been reported missing by her family Friday morning, and her family, who had been actively looking for her since, found her vehicle in the Gardens Casino parking lot and reported it to the Sheriff's Dept this morning," Garza told Patch.

Anyone with information was asked to contact LASD homicide investigators at 323-890-5500.

how'd they know. the best answer for that is, maybe she gambles in that casino and her family knows. The biggest ? is why was she killed.
