Public Input Needed for Metro Bus Service Improvements

Metro San Gabriel Valley Council will hold public hearings on Metro service provided in cities throughout the San Gabriel Valley.

Metro’s San Gabriel Valley Service Council will return the Metro Division 9 Transportation building next to the new El Monte Transit Center, for their next meeting on December 10 at 5 pm.

The Council, which holds monthly meetings and public hearings on Metro service provided in cities throughout the San Gabriel Valley, had been meeting at El Monte City Hall East during the reconstruction of El Monte Station.

The meeting will consist of two parts. The December Service Council meeting will begin at 5 pm. At the conclusion of the meeting the Council will host a special corridor workshop focusing on Metro Bus Lines 70, 76 and 770, traveling along Garvey Avenue and Valley Blvd.

The Service Council encourages the public to attend and participate in the workshop by providing suggestions on how service can be improved along that travel corridor.

The Council will focus on evaluating schedule connections with the Foothill Silver Streak, the adequacy of service levels by time of day and direction, opportunities to improve on-time performance of the lines, potential conversion of rapid trips to local service at certain times, consideration of possible routes through downtown LA and the idea of combining Line 71 into the Line 70 schedule.

If the public is interested in providing comments, but cannot attend a meeting, they can submit comments by e-mailing them to servicecouncils@metro.net. Please mention which Metro Service Council they are addressing their comments to in the subject line or first line of their e-mail message.

The San Gabriel Valley Service Council was formed in 2003, and is comprised of elected officials and transit users interested in improving Metro service in the San Gabriel Valley.  They typically meet on the second Monday of each month at 5 pm, and beginning this month will hold their meetings in the conference room on the third floor of the Division 9 Transportation Building, located adjacent to the El Monte Station, at 3369 Santa Anita Ave.
