L.A. County Bookmark Contest Winners Hail from San Gabriel Valley

Shannon Yong, a freshman at Baldwin Park High School and Wendy Fei, a fourth grader who studies at the Baldwin Park Public Library, among the winners.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina announced Monday the First District winners of the county Public Library’s 33rd Annual Bookmark Contest, all of whom reside in the San Gabriel Valley.

Since 1980 the County Library, with support from Pentel Arts, has conducted the contest to encourage children’s artistic expression and allow them to share their joy of books and the written word.

All of the children created original bookmarks designs that described their love of books, reading and the library.  This year’s theme was “It Came from a Book!" (“¡Vino del Libro!”).
