Threat of a Weapon Prompts Search at Citrus College

Student became concerned after overhearing a woman talking about her boyfriend bringing a weapon, police said.

Glendora Police set up a containment around the Citrus College math/science building Tuesday after a student overheard a conversation about a man with a gun.

Police searched every male student who exited the classroom and checked backpacks for any possible weapon, but eventually found nothing, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

The incident began around 3:30 p.m. when a female student inside one of the bathrooms overheard a female student say of her boyfriend 'I can't believe he's upstairs with a gun,'" said Sergeant Matt Williams of Glendora Police.

Only one classroom was occupied at the time on the second floor of the math/science building. After it was empty, officers also swept the second floor, but still found no weapon, nor did they find the suspect, or his girlfriend.

Evening classes went on as scheduled, school officials said.
