You obviously didn't HEAR the evidence since you said said you were in the court room for most ofRead More the trial. The most important thing we need to remember is Stephen himself changed his story twice and admitted to being with baby Kye when the injuries happened. There was never one single mention of falling down any stairs. Order the transcripts. The grandpa did not say he SAW Kye fall. He said that Stephen came out and TOLD him he fell off the couch while he was mowing the lawn. Order the transcripts. The text that he sent to the mother at 230am after he beat him actually said "your Damn kid fell off his bed again" Order the transcripts. Who does that when you know what you just did to that baby? It is fine that you see this differently but dont add things that weren't said or didn't happen.

And nothing at all matters before that day. It does not matter that the biological father or hisRead More family had absolutely nothing to do with Kye by their own choice. It doesn't matter if mom didn't get tests done that would have proved that nothing was wrong with Kye. It doesn't matter how nice someone was to you at a family bbq...on Aug 13th 2011 someone made a big mistake and fatally injured a baby. That is all that matters today and 12 people decided he will pay for it. I always ask myself...what would you do if Kye was your baby. You would want justice. Ask yourself this question please and see how you feel

Heidi, you were proven on the stand to be a liar. You changed your story your recorded statement toRead More the police. Perjury is against the law or have you forgotten that. You should be ashamed of yourself along with Kim and Jazmin Payne who were also proven liars on the stand. You think jury tampering isn't going to be looked into by the judge, you think this is the end. There will come a day when the ACTUAL guilty parties will be held to answer for what they did and there will come a day when you yourself will have to face your maker and account for the lies and misleading you played in this matter. The truth will come out and Stephen Hoffman will go free.

There was more than only one person injured. I wasn't in any of the vehicles, but I was walking downRead More Baldwin Park Boulevard when the accident occurred. The car that was hit at the intersection skidded across the street, hit a parked car, and a piece of debris hit me in the forehead. I'm almost certain more people were also injured, at least with minor injuries.

In 2012, Long Beach police chief Jim McDonnell was appointed by County Supervisor Knabe to chair aRead More commission investigating misconduct of the Sheriff’s department. McDonnell personally criticized Sheriff Baca’s department for a “culture of violence and persistent pattern of unreasonable force through its entire chain of command dating back many years.” In the past month, Long Beach Chief McDonnell was forced to announce the formation of a NEW committee to investigate the growing number of complaints regarding his OWN Long Beach police department for misconduct and excessive force. This committee is IN ADDITION to the Long Beach charter mandated Citizens Police Complaint Commission (CPCC) and its own Internal Affairs department. Apparently two existing groups tasked with oversight of Long Beach police misconduct is not enough. ______________________________________________________ http://lbpost.com/news/2000003164-lbpd-creates-advisory-committee-to-examine-department-s-use-of-force#.Us2ydk2A2M- ______________________________________________________ How is the sheriff’s department misconduct McDonnell was so outspoken about in his 2012 Commission report any different than on-going issues with HIS OWN Long Beach Police Department requiring appointment of another police oversight committee? How can anyone believe McDonnell would be able to enact positive change in the Sheriff’s Department when he can’t even control HIS OWN, much smaller, Long Beach police department? ______________________________________________________ His name is McBaca

Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell must run for the LA County Sheriff's job because hisRead More protectors, Mayor Bob Foster and Councilman Gary DeLong, are both termed out this year and can no longer protect McDonnell and his department from scrutiny. ______________________________________________________ Mayor Foster made City Manager Pat West look like a fool for committing to interview and hire the new chief from within the Long Beach department. McDonnell was selected by Foster as police chief because he promised to not challenge cuts to police staffing Foster needed to balance the budget. This was a subject previous police chief Batts was vocal about prior to his leaving to become Oakland's police chief. ______________________________________________________ http://www.presstelegram.com/technology/20091223/lbpd-chief-search-sparks-anger ______________________________________________________ http://www.pasadenastarnews.com/technology/20100302/pat-west-apparently-survives-evaluation ______________________________________________________ Upon announcement of McDonnell's hiring as Long Beach's police chief, police union president Steve James requested city council fire City Manager Pat West for breaking his promise to hire from within the ranks of Long Beach's department. However, as payback, for stabbing City Manager West in the back, Mayor Foster threatened to veto any City Council vote to remove West as City Manager and McDonnell as police chief. ______________________________________________________ http://www.presstelegram.com/technology/20100226/police-union-president-confirms-he-wants-long-beach-city-manager-out

I don't see Long Beach Peace Officers Association (POA) Union president Steve James name on the listRead More of endorsements. I wonder why

Don't allow him to select his successor. Paul Tanaka has been as ineffective as Baca, and shares hisRead More ideas of what the department should be.

This has been happening for quite a while. In an attempt to be politically correct and to avoidRead More problems with various activist groups, the hiring standards have been dangerously jeopardized. We have recently seen the results of this practice. This is not a place to be PC or voter popular.

GET YOUR STORY STRAIGHT. This issue was Identified and reported by the LA Times, NOT the Sheriff'sRead More department. "After sheriff's officials learned The Times had access to the records, they launched a criminal investigation to determine who had leaked them. The union representing deputies unsuccessfully tried to get a court order blocking publication." ______________________________________________________ http://graphics.latimes.com/behind-the-badge/ ______________________________________________________ "Internal Sheriff's Department records reviewed by The Times show the union representing the former county officers was also lobbying to hire specific members, including some who had committed serious misconduct during their careers." ______________________________________________________ Records show many of the officers hired had a history of sex at work, statutory rape, falsifying police records, soliciting prostitutes, misconduct, making untrue statements and cheating on entrance exams. "One hire told investigators of having inappropriate sexual contact with two toddlers as a teenager." These were all KNOWN to the department before they hired them. ______________________________________________________ Nearly 200 of the 280 (over 71%) hired in 2010 had been rejected from other agencies because of past misdeeds, failed entrance exams or other issues. ______________________________________________________ "BEFORE HE KNEW OF THE NEWSPAPER"S INVESTIGATION, Sheriff Baca told Times reporters that people with records of violence or dishonesty have no place in law enforcement. He said applicants who had been fired from other agencies shouldn't be given a second chance, and that he would not hire applicants with histories of illegal sexual conduct."

Sorry Richard and Patch, but you're BOTH wrong. This article misleads in that these people DID haveRead More ID - from the Mexican Consular. These ID's were VALID previously but the BPPD changed the rules all of a sudden and make it an arrestable offense. Oh that the real illegal immigrants would never have come in 1492. What peace there would be now!

Did any of you bother to read the article at all? BPPD didn't change the rules, West Covina CourtRead More changed them. The court no longer accepts as valid ANY identification other than a US Government issued document. This was not the PD's decision at all.

To illustrate the scale of the problem? Referring to what? It's not the guns, it's the mental stateRead More of people who need mental health assistance. Why not illustrate the impact of speeding cars, drunk driving, or hit and runs?
Jake Mooney December 14, 2013 at 10:24 pm
Perhaps we could give all our guns psychological counselling. They are running wild on their own.
Jake Mooney December 15, 2013 at 11:54 am
Propaganda Ministry at work. Notice they didn't tell us what their solution would be.
