Each participant will go through counseling, perform community service, receive career guidance assistance, participate in rigorous physical training and experience the realities of prison life, said Lt. Investigations continue Sunday into the bizarre shootout involving a carjacker and sheriff's deputies in front of the sheriff's Industry station, just south of Baldwin Park. The shooting occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m., in the 15000 block of Stafford Street, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Kimberly Unland Detectives said deputies responded to an "armed carjacking'' call about 1:30 p.m after the suspect left a location, reportedly a used car lot, in a white Dodge Charger. The crash on the westbound side, at North Grand Avenue, was reported at 10:24 a.m., according to the California Highway Pattrol.
An SUV, a sedan and a Ford Explorer were involved in a crash Saturday on the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway affecting traffic in Baldwin Park and slowing vehicles to the north Orange (57) Freeway, officials said. The crash at North Grand Avenue was reported at 10:24 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. There was no immediate word on injuries. All the vehicles needed towing, the CHP reported. A SigAlert was issued for three lanes -- two far left and one in the middle -- blocked and was to remain in effect for at least an hour, according to the CHP.

A La Puente resident was riding down Don Julian Road when he struck a mailbox and hit his head on a curb.

Luis Esparza, 47, was riding his bicycle at 6:30 p.m. eastbound on the north sidewalk in the 14000 block of Don Julian Road at an undetermined speed. For an unknown reason, Esparza struck a raised metal mailbox, lost control of the bike, and rose off the curb, according to the Baldwin Park CHP. Shazer Fernando Limas was charged with three counts of murder and is suspected in the deaths of the couples two young sons, both still missing.
A 31-year-old man accused of killing his girlfriend and their two young sons in Orange was charged today with three counts of murder. Shazer Fernando Limas is suspected in the stabbing death of 31-year-old Arlet Hernandez Contreras, whose body was found April 25 in the neighboring city of La Puente. Limas is also accused of killing their sons, 2-year-old Fernando and 4-month old Emmanuel. Contreras' remains were unidentified at the Los Angeles County coroner's office until late last week when Orange police called to see if there were any anonymous stabbing victims, Orange police Sgt.
